WHA Resident Events Recap

WHA received a donation from Consumers Credit Union to purchase the turkeys. Some of their staff came to The Crossings of McAcree/Armory to help pass out the turkeys to our residents. Turkeys were distributed to our residents at our sites for Thanksgiving.

Some of the veterans received a gift card from WHA.  All veterans received a hot meal.

WHA partnered with the City of Waukegan for this year's Annual Block Party. This community-focused event brought together neighbors, local organizations, and families for a day full of connection and celebration. Some of the features included local vendors, resource tables, live performances, and a K9 demonstration from the Waukegan Police Department. 

We would like to thank Roberti Community House for preparing food for this event. They wrapped 500 burgers and 390 hot dogs for us all!

We hope everyone had an amazing time, and we hope to see you all at next year's Annual Block Party!

In 2021, WHA closed on financing and began construction of the 50 existing units at The Crossings at McAree (formerly Armory Terrace). Renovations included updating the 50 townhome-style units, adding a new central office building for WHA, and adding a community building for the Residents.

A huge thank you to the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Citi, FHLBank Chicago, Cinnaire, The City of Waukegan, Lake County, Bear Development, Construction Management Associates, Inc. - CMA, Evergreen Real Estate Group, and WHA for helping bring this vision to life and making The Crossings at McAree a desirable and aesthetically pleasing place to call home.

Welcome Home!

Riverside Apartments, formerly known as Ravine Terrace Homes, will soon begin construction. This property consists of 98 units at 200 S. MLK Jr. Avenue & 1645 N. McAree Road in Waukegan. We would like to thank Bear Real Estate Group, Illinois Housing Development Authority, National Equity Fund, and CIBC for helping make this project a reality. We are ecstatic about bringing rehabilitated units for seniors and those with disabilities in the Waukegan area!

The Bluffs on South Sheridan include 120 new units to replace Barwell Manor. 96 of the units were rebuilt, while 24 of them were renovated. There are several new and modern features, including a playground and clubhouse, at this property. This project was a community effort, and only the beginning!
